Brief History:
Bush was a pilot in the Texas Air National Guard during the Vietnam War. During his early year before his introduction unto politics, he spent his time working in the oil and gas business in Texas. In the late 80's Bush went to work on his father's presidential campaign as speechwriter and an adviser. After his father won the presidency, George W. Bush's attention was focused on major league baseball. He formed a group of investors to buy the Texas Rangers team and from 1989 to 1994 ended up becoming managing general partner. In 1994 Bush won the election as the governor of Texas for two terms. As governor Bush was very popular and under his leadership the state had a substantial time of prosperity. Bush was in favor of strong drug and crime measures and also the death penalty.
His programs included large tax cuts and a welfare reform program. In his bid for the presidency the was controversy in the closeness of the voter count in the state of Florida, which was finally resolved by the supreme court in his favor. Some of his positions as president include is that he in against abortion only in extreme cases such as a woman's life is at stake from the pregnancy, and an increase in research in the field of weapons for defense. In the field of education to award scholarships for children in public schools that fail state testing for three years. On gun control is strongly for enforcing existing laws and raising the age for handgun purchases to 21. In the area of taxes his plan is to cut virtually all areas of taxes. After the September 11, 2001 bombing of the world trade center in New York, in his ongoing campaign against in terrorism, he is diligent in letting the world know that it will not be tolerated. His place in history is insured by the fact that he and his father, George Herbert Walker Bush, are the second father and son both to serve as president, after John Adams and John Quincy Adams.
